Teaching Philosophy
To me, Ag Science is where it all begins to educate younger people about the industry and its ability to shape someone into a well-rounded person.. My Ag teachers helped to instill in me the characteristics of a mature, respectful, responsible, leader and person. I believe that every kid needs to reach this level before they go out into the world. When I entered my first freshman Ag class, I was terrified. I was unable to speak in front of people, and I was extremely shy. After bit of teasing and several presentation exercises, I was able to carry on a conversation with my fellow peers and adults. I became an outgoing person, and this experience led me to several high leadership roles in our chapter and community. I want to inspire high school students to get involved and be a part of the FFA, which has so many opportunities to offer students. For example, I won a considerable amount of money by showing market and breeding gilts, and I received a large scholarship from San Antonio; both would not have been obtainable without my dedication and hard work in the program. These opportunities can help students reach a higher level of education, even if they do not wish to pursue an Ag degree.
